Counseling Services
School counseling services at Christ the Teacher School are preventative and pro-active in nature. It is curriculum based and is available to all. The counseling program serves four basic groups: students, teachers/staff, administration, and the parents/community.
Services offered are indiviudal-solution focused counseling, small group and drop-in crisis counseling that are designed to help enhance the areas of academic development and personal/social growth.
Classroom counseling lessons are taught on a monthly basis, these lessons target issues such as bullying, conflict resolution, peer relations, and drug and alochol awareness. It is a planned, developmental program of lessons designed to foster students academic, career, and personal and social growth. The counseling program coordinates with outside agencies, such as Delaware Prevent Child Abuse, in order to enrich the counseling curriculum.
Teacher, parent, and outside agencies (therapists, doctors, etc...) consultations are held to discuss student concerns and develop a plan of action that wil assist the student in reaching his/her fullest potential.
Counseling is a confidential relationship in which the counselor meets with students individually and in small groups to help resolve or cope constructively with their problems and developmental concerns.
Above all, school counselor's are student advocates who work cooperatively with other individuals and organizations to promote the positive development of children.
